The majority of Neil’s work is completed using acrylic on canvas
or board, a medium which suits his style.
Recent work includes more of the Borders where he is spending ever
increasing amounts of time.
The mix of
vast open space and dramatic coast appeals.
Following
graduation from Nottingham Trent University in 1993 - BA (Hons) Interior Design
- Neil began work as an interior designer in Milton Keynes. Following company relocation to Liverpool, he
settled in Newton Le Willows in 1996, from where he made frequent visits to the
Lake District. This is the point at
which his passion for landscape painting really began. Capturing dramatic Lakeland fells coupled
with a fascination for the ever changing water of the lakes still draws him
back.
Neil returned to live in his native North-East in 2001 and began
to paint with even greater passion, primarily because Northumberland was once
again on his doorstep. The magical mix
of high wild moors, expansive beaches, craggy shorelines, (and some of the most
atmospheric castles in England) continually inspires.
